Relate Shifts to Matchmaking Focus

The Relate dating app is going to be phased out as the company shifts towards matchmaking as part of a major transformation. The platform’s CEO Philip Jonzon Jarl will be stepping down as one of Sweden’s leading matchmakers, Lemarc Thomas, is set to take over in this new era.

The dating app, which recorded over 100,000 downloads in Sweden and set up over 135,000 matches, is now going to be replaced with a six-month personal matchmaking programme.

Lemarc Thomas, who runs a successful matchmaking company, has become the new head of Relate after a SEK 1 million investment, with an option for an additional SEK 1 million. Relate will now be one arm of the Lemarc Thomas Matchmaking agency.

“This feels great. You could say that Relate and Lemarc dated for several years through collaboration. Now we are merging the teams and creating an effective digital hybrid for matchmaking”, Philip Jonzon Jarl, the departing CEO, told Dagens Industri.

Users on the dating app will now be offered the opportunity to become part of the dating pool that Relate’s new paying members will be matched with, Dagens Industri reports.

In a new LinkedIn Post, Jarl shares “I am so excited to have Lemarc Thomas take over and to now launch the new 6 months matchmaking & coaching program that will not only set people up with their perfect match once and for all, but will be deeply personally transformative to help build a strong foundation for a conscious and meaningful relationship!”.

Jarl states that he will remain at Relate as a co-owner and board member, but will no longer be involved in operational matters.
